Dining at Hapuku Lodge is a celebration of place, a sensory experience rooted in the rhythms of the Kaikōura landscape.
From slow-paced breakfasts to candlelit dinners, every dish is crafted with three important elements in mind: simplicity; seasonality; and a deep respect for the land and sea.
A Taste of the Land and Sea
Ingredients are sourced from our organic kitchen garden, neighbouring farms, and the wild waters of the Pacific. Enjoy your meal in the warmth of the lodge dining room or al fresco, surrounded by mountains and birdsong.
Dinner and breakfast are included for all overnight guests.
Casual lunch and dinner bookings are also available – call to reserve.
Our Ethos
Our culinary philosophy is simple: honest food, carefully crafted, inspired by place.
Led by head chef Fernando Campos Da Silva, our kitchen is fuelled by the produce we grow on-site and the ingredients we source locally, from free-range farms to small-scale fishermen.
Every plate reflects our connection to Kaikōura and our passion for crafting food that’s both nourishing and full of flavour.
Blending traditional techniques with global influences, our food tells the story of Kaikōura in every bite.
Dining Offerings
Dinner
Dinner is the highlight of the Hapuku dining experience, a gourmet three-course menu prepared by our chefs. Dinner is included for all overnight stays, and there is also limited availability for casual reservations. Our young guests love the kids’ menu, and optional private dining for families is available on request.
Breakfast
Start the day with a chef-prepared breakfast featuring a rotating menu of both sweet and savoury options, house-baked goods, fresh fruit, juices, and expertly made coffee. A relaxing, nourishing way to begin the morning, included with your stay.
Lunch
Available to both in-house guests as well as non-guests, our seasonal lunch menu features local ingredients in a relaxed setting. Choose to sit inside (with the comfort of the fire in winter) or al fresco in the garden courtyard, with stunning views of the mountains.
