What’s included in the rate?
All stays include a three course dinner and gourmet breakfast each day. Rates are quoted in New Zealand Dollars (NZD).

Is GST included?
Rates are inclusive of 15% Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Is there parking onsite?
Yes. We have plenty of onsite parking which is provided free of charge

Is there complimentary wifi?
Yes, complimentary Wi-Fi access is available throughout the lodge.

Is there a transfer service from/to the train station in Kaikoura?
Yes, we offer complimentary transfers from and to the Coastal Pacific train in Kaikoura. Please pre-book these with our friendly reservations team.

What time is check-in/check-out
Check-in time is from 2pm and check-out time is by 11:00am.

Are pets allowed?
For the comfort of all guests and because we are part of a working deer farm, we must adhere to a strict no pet policy anywhere on site

Can I book an Upper Branch Tree House for 2 adults and 1 child?
We are unable to accommodate 3 persons, aged 2 years and over, due to fire saftey rules. (Infants under 2 years can be accommodated in addition.)

What is the payment policy?
A credit card is required to confirm a reservation. For direct bookings, no payment is due until checkout. We accept Visa, Mastercard or American Express. We also accept direct deposit for pre-pay only

What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations must be made in writing 30 days prior to arrival date. Bookings not cancelled by this time will be charged the following cancellation fees:
Within 7 days of arrival 100% of total rate charged.
Within 8 – 15 days of arrival 50% of total rate charged.
Within 16- 30 days of arrival 35% of total rate charged. -
What is the group booking policy?
Group Bookings are considered as parties of 4 rooms or more and are subject to the following booking and cancellation terms:
60 days prior to arrival – a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total nett rate is due.
30 days prior to arrival – The remaining balance is due. -
What is the group booking cancellation policy?
Cancellations must be made in writing 60 days prior to arrival date. Bookings not cancelled by this time will be charged the following cancellation fees:
Within 30 days of arrival 100% of total rate charged.
Within 31 – 60 days of arrival 50% of total rate charged. -
Where is Hapuku Lodge & Tree Houses?
The lodge is 10km north of the coastal marine town of Kaikoura, situated on the east coast of the South Island of New Zealand.

How far are you from the nearest airport?
Blenheim airport is 123km from the lodge and an approximate 1hr 40 minute drive
The nearest international airport is Christchurch, which is 197km and an approximate 2hr 35 minute drive -
Can I travel to the lodge by helicopter?
Yes, we have a helipad on-site. Please note that we must be pre-advised fo all landings and take offs.

Do I need to book a table for dinner?
Dinner is included in all stays at the lodge so pre-booking is not necessary. If you do have a preferred seating time, you are welcome to request this prior to your arrival.

Do you cater for dietary requirements?
Yes, we can cater for all dietary requirements and appreciate advance notice of these. Should notice not be provided in advance, our chefs will endeavour to prepare suitable meals with the ingredients available.

What time is breakfast?
From October to April: 7:30am – 10:00am
From May to September: 8:00am – 10:00am -
What time is dinner?
From October to April: we take seatings from 6:00pm to 8:30pm
From May to September: we take seatings from 6:00pm to 8:00pm -
Do you offer room service?
Our rooms are not equipped for in-suite dining. All meals are served in the lodges restaurant or courtyard (weather permitting)

Does the lodge restaurant accept bookings by non-guests?
We welcome enquiries for lunch or dinner bookings by non-guests. Please note that are unable to confirm availability until one month prior.

Do you offer lunch?
Yes. Lunch seatings are available from 12:00 until 1:30pm, and at an additional cost.

How high are the Tree Houses?
The Tree Houses sit 30 feet / 10 metres above ground, in the canopy of a native Kanuka grove

How are the Tree Houses accessed?
Each Tree House is accessed by it’s own external staircase

Is there a swimming pool?
The lodge has a heated outdoor mineral lap pool, spa pool, cold plunge and sauna, which are free for all of our guests to use.

Do you have a fitness centre/gym?
A small, fully equipped gym is available for guest use.

Does the lodge have a day spa?
Our Kawakawa Day Spa is the perfect place to unwind an enjoy a range of massage or facial treatments. Pre-booking is highly recommended.

Does the lodge spa accept bookings by non-guests?
Yes, we welcome enquiries for spa treatment bookings by non-guests.

Do you have an electric vehicle charging station?
Yes, we have an electric vehicle charging station which is free for our guests to use.

Is the lodge wheelchair friendly?
Our common areas are all wheelchair friendly.
For accommodation, we have one ground floor Lodge Suite. Please note that this room does have one step up into the shower.
We also have the ground floor bedroom of the Olive House. This room is entirely wheelchair friendly and a shower chair is availabel on request. -
Do you offer farm tours and can we pet the animals?
Unfortunately we are unable to offer farm tours and guests are not permitted to enter the paddocks. All of our deer must be treated as wild and therefore not safe to pet.

Can I purchase a gift certificate?
Yes, gift vouchers are available for stays, dining and our spa. They can be tailored to suit your needs and budget, to cover an entire expereince or as a dollar value towards an experience.
