Driving to Hapuku Lodge
Kaikōura sits halfway between Picton and Christchurch on the east coast of New Zealand’s South Island. There’s only one main road, State Highway 1, making it easy to find us.

From the North (Picton, Nelson, Blenheim)
Look for a small Hapuku sign next to the train tracks just after the coast. Continue 2km and turn left at Station Road when you see the Hapuku Lodge + Tree Houses sign.

From the South (Christchurch, Hanmer, Kaikōura Township)
Drive 12 km north of Kaikōura, cross the Hapuku River bridge, then look right for our sign and turn onto Station Road.

Arriving by Train
The Coastal Pacific train runs from Christchurch to Picton, with a scenic stop in Kaikōura. The route follows the coastline, offering spectacular ocean views. The station in Kaikōura doubles as the Whale Watch terminal, just let us know your arrival time and we’ll be there to pick you up.
